Lansing Service Center
Established in 1993, the Lansing Service Center is an integral part of our outreach efforts. A gateway to the University, the office is managed by Director Veronica A. W. Johnson, Ph.d. The Center is located near the State Capitol in mid-Michigan, making it convenient to state government and citizens from Flint to Muskegon. The liaison with the U-M campuses -- Ann Arbor, Dearborn and Flint -- increases the opportunity for collaboration and dialogue between the University, Lansing and communities statewide.
The Lansing Staff supports a variety of important interactions between the University and the people of Michigan by means of:
- Jointly sponsoring programs with an ever-growing network of U-M alumni. The office supports the activities of the Legislative Advocacy Program, an effort of the Alumni Association and the Office of Government Relations to increase alumni involvement in advocating public higher education. The outreach program includes an annual Michigan Alumni Day in Lansing, Wolverine Caucus events (for alumni who work in or around state government), and ongoing contact with State legislators.
- Linking University personnel with community agencies, state and local governments, the Legislature, and other groups to develop programs, technology networks and other services using University resources that benefit their respective constituents and all citizens of Michigan.
- Providing assistance to the University's offices of Undergraduate Admissions and Financial Aid and offering a convenient place to meet with prospective students and provide them with information about the University.
